Cowley College Overview
This course will emphasize safety, specimen collection (venipuncture and capillary puncture) and specimen processing. Students will learn the basic skills required to collect a blood specimen.
The phlebotomy program can lead to a career as a phlebotomy technician, or it can be the starting point for students interested in pursuing the MLT Program that is offered cooperatively by Barton and Cowley. Students in other allied health (EMS, Nursing, etc.) and pre-professional majors may wish to take this course to become more familiar with venipuncture and specimen collection.
