Hinds Community College Overview

Phlebotomy Traditional Track prepares individuals to collect blood specimens for clinical laboratories. This 160-clock hour course includes lecture, laboratory and clinical experience. The class usually meets twice weekly for a semester. Classes begin in the fall and spring semester.

Phlebotomy Fast Track is an 80-clock hour course offered each year during the Fall and Spring semesters. Typically the class meets one evening per week usually on Monday. The course is designed to prepare individuals to collect specimens of blood for the clinical laboratory. The lecture and laboratory components include 40 clock-hours: the clinical requirement totals 40 clock-hours. Employment opportunities are available in the clinical laboratories of hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or physician offices.
