Schools and Training for HVAC Contractors

Skilled professionals most often complete a post-secondary educational program or attend a college, trade school and/or complete a sanctioned apprenticeship program with an established Journeyman to acquire the skills needed to do the job. Research indicates that companies that employ HVAC technicians typically give preference to candidates with formal training/education gained from an academic program or apprenticeship program. Skill-based schools and colleges offer programs that can take half a year up to two years to complete and offer courses that prepare students for residential and small industrial projects. Training covers gas to electric, troubleshooting and how to handle clients professionally. After completing the coursework, you’ll receive a certificate or degree. If you live in a remote location or are short on time, online courses may be available.
