Meet Terra Ruiz, founder of Wholistic Canine — a Sacramento-based dog training and behavior business built on the belief that the relationship between a dog and their family should be functional, fulfilling, and rooted in trust.

As a Licensed Family Dog Mediator and lifelong learner, Terra has spent her career helping families navigate reactivity, stress, and confusion around their dogs’ behavior through a philosophy centered on connection, not control. Through Wholistic Canine, Terra offers a comprehensive range of services designed to meet dogs and their owners at every stage of their journey. Whether it’s private training, day training, nose work, or agility, her programs are grounded in ethology and learning theory and shaped around each dog’s unique genetics, environment, and learning history. She also offers dog wash and daycare services, making Wholistic Canine a versatile resource for pet families looking for more than just a one-time training session.

What has set Terra apart throughout her career is her judgment-free approach. No family that comes to her is made to feel blamed or shamed for where they’re starting. Instead, Terra meets each dog and owner exactly where they are and builds from there.
