How To Get Your License to Become a Physical Therapist

A PT license must be held in all US states to practice professionally. Once a PT degree is complete all states require the PT to pass the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. After completion of the DPT, many go on to complete a residency program which typically includes 1,500 hours of clinical practice within 36 months. At this time the PT will work under the supervision of experienced PTs while also training in a specialty discipline.
