What Certifications are Needed for MMA Instructors?

Amateur Mixed Martial Arts are regulated under the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation and the World MMA Association. Both geared towards ensuring that MMA is allowed the same recognition and rights as other major sports – it is not as involved in regulating instruction as much as it is in regulating competition and promotion.

MMA instructors have no universal associations or federations to speak of – however, as they teach collections of various martial arts skills, they will have experience and training in those disciplines. If, for example, an MMA instructor works at or manages a gym that specializes in Jiu-Jitsu and Karate, they will likely have black belts in both and be a member of the World Karate and the United States Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
