Basic Manners focuses on enhancing our dogs' fundamental obedience skills. This class is ideal for dogs that are generally comfortable and relaxed around other dogs and people but require improvement in their obedience behaviors. We will cover a range of topics, including managing distractions, recall, loose leash walking, sit, down, the basics of stay, and many other essential skills.
Does your dog experience difficulty when interacting with other dogs and people? Does the idea of a traditional group class create feelings of anxiety? Our Impulse Control class is an excellent starting point for dogs that may be uncertain, overexcitable, or rambunctious in social situations. Emotional regulation is key to achieving long-term success! While it can be challenging to encourage your dog to calm down and relax, we aim to eliminate the power struggle and provide you with the expertise necessary to support your dog's good behavior. We cover key topics like: engagement, name recognition, foundations to loose leash walking, feeling relaxed in the presence of other dogs, learning to turn away from distractions, and more!
For those who have graduated from Basic Skills, this class will continue to build upon the foundation established in Basic Skills. The focus of this course will shift towards developing the necessary skills for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. Skills include: Sitting politely for petting, loose leash walking in more challenging environments, increasing the level of distractions in class, and more.
