Infant massage is important because it promotes deeper parent-child bonding, aids in physiological development, boosts the immune system, and reduces stress by soothing the nervous system. The benefits of infant massage therapy include multiple key areas of baby’s development and well-being including bonding and attachment, digestion and comfort, physical development, and better sleep.
Postpartum depression is one of the most common postpartum complications, infant massage has been shown to reduce depression in both mothers and fathers, lower levels of anxiety, and stronger parent-child attachment.
In this session, parents will be taught the basics of infant massage and provided with a starter kit and handouts to ensure success.
