This includes on and off-lead heeling, recall, and stays.This class emphasizes handler skills and developing a dog that is as eager to train as you are, constantly asking you "What's next?". While creating this attitude, we introduce the foundations for Novice (BN and CD) level work: attentive heeling (on and off lead), fold-back Downs, tuck Sits, straight fronts, solid stands, eager recalls, confident sits & downs. We will cover handling errors, understanding corrections, training a thinking dog, marking behaviors, "wrong" as a teaching opportunity, and proofing Materials needed: Lots of treats, a flat or martingale collar, 4-6' leash, crate or mat for your dog to relax on between exercises and platforms if you have them.

Start 9/16/26, end 10/28/26 Requirements: Dog is comfortable in a group class setting, walks on a loose leash, sits, downs, recalls, and stays on cue Prerequisites: Advanced Puppy 1 & Advanced Puppy II classes or equivalent puppy classes elsewhere with instructor approval ​Session length: 7 weeks Content: This course is for dogs 1 year or older that have had several hours of group training in good social and obedience manners, but need polishing of those skills prior to taking the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Owners learn to become responsible dog owners and take the AKC pledge. ​Obedience Skills: Sit, Down, Loose Leash Walking, Come, Leave It and Distance Stay. Greeting: No Jumping Up, Accepting Petting and being Groomed by an unfamiliar person. We will spend the first part of each class learning how to teach your dog their new foundation skills followed by applying these skills to the corresponding Rally signs (Novice to Excellent) in the second part of the class. This class is perfect for anyone interested in advancing thier basic skills learned in puppy classes, CGC dogs ready for a bigger challenge, and is a great first step for anyone interested in stepping into the Rally ring for the first time with a new dog. limited to 8 teams to allow for one-on-one instruction. Dogs will be taught basic obedience skills: Come, Sit, Lie Down, Sttay, Walk on a Leash, Leave It, Polite Greetings with Humans Tips and guidance for impulse control and discussions about many common behavioral issues such as biting, chewing, jumping, barking, socialization, separation anxiety and more. Start 9/17/26, end 10/29/26 Requirements: Dog must be comfortable and quiet in a crate while waiting their turn and "on odor" Prerequisites: Introduction to Nose Work Session Length: 7 weeks Content: This class is a continuation of the Introduction to Nose Work & Introduction to Odor classes. You and your dog will continue to develop skills for competing, and is also just a fun class for students/dogs that do not want to compete but want to enjoy the sport. Materials Needed: Non-restrictive harness, buckle or martingale collar, 6 to 10 foot leash, lots of high-value treats.
Instructor: Erika Wilson Start 9/18/26, end 11/7/26, no class 10/31/26 Requirements: Dog must be comfortable and quiet in a crate while waiting their turn Prerequisites: Advanced Puppy I or higher class, must walk under control on a leash Content: This class is for people who are curious about the sport and is the first step in your Nose Work adventure. Now is the time your dog will be introduced to the “hunt” game using natural instincts and drive to search for treats in their environment. Dogs learn to search independently while developing problem solving skills. In addition, handlers begin learning how to recognize and interpret their individual dog’s body language during and at the conclusion of the search. Food is the target in this introductory class. Materials Needed: Non-restrictive harness, buckle or martingale collar, 6 to 10 foot leash (no chain leashes), lots of high-value treats. ​Please note: Because of the high demand for these courses and the importance of continual skill building, missing more than 2 classes in a 7 week session is strongly advised agaisnt. Please ensure that your shedule allows you to attend all classes. You must attend the first class. Puppies 9 month and older are welcome, however they should have graduated from AKC’s STAR Puppy course. Younger puppies may be allowed pending instructor approval. Crating during class is required, so training your dog to be calm and quiet in the crate is necessary. ​

Engagement Games is designed to teach you how to get and maintain your dog’s attention through a series of games. Throughout class, you will learn a variety of games for getting your dog to opt-in to paying attention to you in a variety of situations, even when they are distracted! We will cover heel position in turns, footwork, stands, pivots and other skills needed to prepare for heel position in Rally and Obedience.
