This is a 6-week positive reinforcement class and we will learn things like:  Basics of positive reinforcement training, marker training, how to take treats nicely, watch me, sit, down, wait, basic husbandry, go to place, leave it, drop it, beginner recall, loose leash walking, and a trick!  All dogs must have proof of vaccination.  This means that your dog must be current on their distemper and rabies vaccines to participate. Unfortunately I cannot allow puppies to participate this year that have not finished their full distemper/parvo series. If you want other group class options for young puppies, please get in touch. Dogs with a positive history with people and other dogs will do best in this class. If your dog is reactive or aggressive, please consider private lessons instead. Meet at the Yancey County Humane Society yards every Sunday at 4:30 pm, starting on October 4, 2026. The preceding Sunday, Sept. 27 at 4:30 there will be a recommended (but not required) introductory Zoom meeting for anyone enrolled. With the exception of the Zoom meeting, these classes will be held OUTDOORS, so dress accordingly. A portion of your class fee will be donated to Yancey County Humane Society.
