A lip flip is a procedure that uses neuromodulators, such as Botox, to relax a muscle in the upper lip, causing the lip to "flip" and giving the appearance of a fuller upper lip. The procedure is different than getting lip fillers, which are injections directly into the lip, as opposed to above it.

Acne cyst injections can rapidly reduce inflammation in the skin. Usually reserved as a last- resort treatment for very severe acne, a glucocorticoid steroid injection can be used to treat a highly inflamed, red acne nodule that is worse than the patient’s usual acne and shows no sign of improving, or to quickly resolve a pimple in an “emergency” situation, such as an imminent wedding. A doctor might also recommend an acne cyst injection for a pimple that looks like it could leave a scar if it continues to worsen. Additionally, a patient who is prone to painful, cystic acne may benefit from receiving a glucocorticoid steroid injection at the first sign of an oncoming cyst. An injection into an early pimple can prevent it from progressing into a large pustule and thus reduce the risk of scarring. What Do Acne Cyst Injections Involve? After cleaning the treatment area with rubbing alcohol, a doctor delivers the injection directly to the acne cyst in one quick stick. Many patients notice a significant improvement within 24 to 48 hours. To help prevent further breakouts, the doctor may suggest some skin-care routine adjustments. While this relatively short procedure can quickly and easily improve acne, there are a few caveats. First, acne cyst injections are not designed to be a skin-care staple. Instead, this treatment is intended to be used occasionally to address painful lesions that could potentially cause scarring or to provide an aesthetic benefit for a special occasion.
