I've known Julie for over a decade. We initially met in dog training and now she's a great friend, who is a dog trainer, and an excellent one at that. I am always recommending her to others.
She is a reward based trainer. She helps you build a relationship with your dog.
She is patient, thorough, loving and extremely caring. I will be taking some of her classes myself.
She's also extremely knowledgeable and educated on the health of your baby too.
I give her 10 stars.

We’ve boarded our dogs for years here and did the boarded training for a few weeks and our German Shepard returned a changed dog! We have recently adopted another dog and she’s very scared of everything so prior to our boarding, I reached out to ask if we could have a meetup at their location to get him used to it and they were so accommodating! Highly recommend as Selene the owner is awesome and everyone else is always so friendly and caring of the pets in their care.
The best, caring, kind people. They are always so helpful and really do go out of their way. Our dog loves their doggy day care and when he gets to stay for an overnight. Selene is a very understanding trainer and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone.

Selene was so amazing to work with! We came to her with an adorable German Shepherd puppy who is the most stubborn puppy I have ever had when it came to potty training and I tried just about everything I could find on TikTok and YouTube and could not get her to figure it out so I reached out and was able to Get her into boarding and puppy training was discovered that my puppy was one of the most difficult puppies, potty train she’s ever worked with however, my puppy is doing amazing now such a sweetheart And I genuinely would not have been possible without you guys. I highly recommend working with this company because I was at my wits end, losing my mind and she stepped in and saved the day.

I inherited my Dad’s two Australian Shepherds who have been through a lot of stress before he passed away in December of 2021. Selene came to our house to meet Bailey ( 9 yrs) and Bentley (4 yrs). They weren’t socialized around people or dogs and showed lots of aggression. Selene and her team are very caring and went the extra mile. Both dogs have made tremendous progress and we are continuing to use Selene and her team. I trust her so much and have learned much from her! This process is not a short one and owners have to do homework. We are also using Selene for boarding our pups while we go on trips. I hope whoever is reading this selects Chasing Life!
Selene is magical! She is simply amazing. We have an American Akita, a strong headed breed. He arrived home as a raptor and now he’s a family friendly dog. We did a board and train, attend play school every week. He now can peacefully play vets with my two year old toddler.

Selene is absolutely amazing. Our puppy Reba is like a child to us. Selene treated Reba with such patience and love that we absolutely feel comfortable with Reba in her care. Having small children in our family, and having a trainer with such knowledge; we feel 100% safe with Reba around our children unsupervised. I would recommend Selena’s company to anyone looking for basic or advanced dog training without hesitation !

What a gift and blessing Selene Florez, owner of Chasing Life Dog Training has been to us!
A few months ago, after a wrestling match with Ranger while dropping him off at our pet salon, I asked, “Help! Who do we get to help our boy so that I don't lose my sanity and he doesn’t lose his spirit?” the answer was, “Selene. You need Selene.” They were right!! Ranger no longer leaps on me from the back seat when we arrive somewhere, and he waits for permission to get out. He walks like a pro now with Kevin and he will soon be able to leave him on a long lead and play ball with him at the park. Selene also tailors training to your specific needs, for example, Ranger had trouble sitting still for me to change out his collars, which is hard when you have shoulder issues, so she targeted that issue. He’s also learned to control his jumping which was one of our main concerns. Those are just a few highlights of the many positive changes for our sweet boy. Besides all of that, as you can see from his goofy grin, he loves her, and going on play dates there with his new buddies.
We are so thankful for Selene, and her heart for pets and their people, and wanted to share in case any of our four legged friends might need her help too.

Our family takes our sweet girl here for daycare. She loves the staff, they are so good to her and spoil her! I trust them to care for her and Selene is very responsive every time I have a question or need info. If it weren't for her and her staff I wouldn't have been able to go back to the job I love! Highly recommend!

We have loved to watch Lily grow in her trust in us. She is such a great dog and we are so happy to see her each week. She loves her sun bathing mornings!
UPDATE - I originally only gave 2 stars because of communication issue but they ended up reaching out and tried to remediate the issue as even offered to help find trainers in a new state for me so I really appreciate that.
I had contacted them for some dog training and they had been pretty good communication wise but then when it came to getting the invoice or quote they went radio silent and completely ignored me. I had turned down other options for dog training because we had spoken about getting her in the following week and I made and account with her portal only to be completely ignored.
Selene has been a great ally for our family with our Border Collie mix pup. She came to see us at 8 weeks, and has been a pillar of support not to mention super knowledgeable with a huge variety of solutions and most importantly, great patience both with us and our puppy! She also offers incredible support even outside of the lessons, and is ALWAYS available to answer questions whenever we need as-hoc advice. She seems to truly care about Dash, his behavior and progress as well as the family dynamic and making sure everyone is comfortable based on our family set up.
We would thoroughly recommend Selene to anyone who needs guidance with their dogs! We are so grateful to be working with her and will continue as Dash goes through each stage of his life!

Selene and her team are amazing! She has been with us ever since we got our first dog, Blue, as a 8 weeks old puppy. Now Blue is 2 yrs old and absolutely loves Selene and being at her facility. She’s patient, loving, caring, trustworthy, and very knowledgeable. I would recommend Selene and her facility to anyone looking for basic or advanced dog training or boarding without hesitation!
We’ve been trusting our pups to Selene and her staff for years. We have a rescue who is often scared of strangers but with Selene and her team he has the best time! My dogs are always happy both when they see their babysitters at drop off and when we come to pick them up at the end of their stay.
Can’t recommend enough, your fur babies would be in safe & caring hands here.
My GSD first started working with Selene when she was about 6 months old, and continues to stay with Selene when I go out of town (she’s almost 2 years old now). To say my Rizzo is a handful would be an understatement, but Selene has always been available to guide me and give me training tips when new issues come up. She’s just a text message or phone call away whenever I’ve needed her. Selene also works with her staff to try and address Rizzo’s separation anxiety issues; trying new procedures when I drop her off and pick her up, and follows up with me to see how things went when she has new staff. I feel extremely comfortable leaving Rizzo with Selene and her staff, and Rizzo is comfortable with them. Rizzo is never hesitant or fearful when I drop her off, other than her usual craziness when I’m out of her sight, so I know they take good care of her. I’ve recommended Selene to several friends, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to others.

We are so happy that you guys and Aspen aka FISH have become a great part of our Chasing Life family. 😊🐠🐶
We can't talk highly enough about Selene and Travis. They have not only helped us from day one with our mix Pitbull/Akita puppy, but has continued to support us since. 1 year after adopting Ahsoka we had a baby. Scared to have a newborn in the house Selene worked closely with both Ahsoka and us to ensure there was a smooth transition. Additionally, because of the pandemic we hadn't been getting out as much as we once were, which triggered some anxiety with Ahsoka. Without hesitation the team got to work building her confidence back up and taught us small tricks to adapt to our new normal. Having a trained dog has been a lifesaver for us and is worth every penny. We are a lot happier, worry less and know that no matter what comes our way, we'll have a team to help our fur baby and us get through it.

Selene returned my call very promptly and had productive feedback for me when I reached out to Chasing Life. She was willing to share her thoughts and make a plan to consult same day at my home. I felt like I was making progress just in our first call. I would highly recommend Chasing Life.

Selene and her team are fantastic. I love the combination of board and train services and at home lessons so we can address specific problems that only seem to occur at our own house and not the trainers. :). Highly recommend.

You can’t possibly get better training and service than Selene. She has helped me tremendously with my problem “child” including but certainly not limited to getting her to thrive along side another dog in the house which I never thought was possible. 2 years after that accomplishment I contacted her again when we brought a baby into the house. She came over for a quick visit and showed me what to do going forward and it’s already worked within a week. She is awesome at reaching out and checking in afterwards and I feel that I can trust her expertise anytime for anything. Save your money going for one of those corporate dog training facilities and hire Selene because she will be able to do things they never could even come close to. My wife and I joke that she is the literal dog whisperer. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done to keep our dogs and family safe and happy!

Firstly, I appreciate her for taking my dog. My dog had an injury, and she still took her and she came back unharmed. Even did a follow-up stay after her surgery which was nice! I appreciate that a lot.
However, my issue mainly is with punctuality and accountability. When messaging her, responses are almost non-existent for a few hours to a few days. To the point where I had no idea if she was going to bring back my dog. I had to go pick her up! I can't fathom taking someone's pet(a very very expensive investment and companion) and go "I forgot to tell you I can't drop your dog off today. I'll bring her tomorrow."
After picking her up, Selene was scheduled to do a followup and inform me of any training tips she did while she had my dog. However, she never showed up. I didn't bother to follow up because at this point, I noticed a pattern, and as a paying customer I shouldn't have to do constant followups or tolerate delays on picking up my pet.
After all of that, It was time to take my pet to a followup vet visit. The car ride to the vet? Like a new dog. She has improved and I appreciate her for that. However, her behavior at the vet was the exact same. Like she didn't learn a thing. I tried what I could to stop her from making a commotion, but of course, nothing worked and Selene didn't even commit to her followup appointment.
Now I am sure Selene is a lovely lady. The reviews obviously shows she does amazing work. However, the punctuality and lack of responses really bothered me. She was apologetic, but I noticed a pattern of having to followup with her to get some form of confirmation. Especially when we schedule a time for you to drop off my dog and I hear absolutely nothing and hoping my dog is okay.
The only thing I recommend is Selene to get an assistant. A bookkeeper to help communicate with customers and schedule her calendars. Because obviously she has her arms stretch thin to coordinate with customers AND handle violent dogs.

Hello as soon as I got this on July 23 2025 I sent you a text as I was super confused as I had not heard from you since June 10 2025. I had sent a few texts to check in and get your sessions set up, but did not hear back from you. So I did some research and found that somehow the client portal system after an update had put you on a DND text list in the system. So my text to you were not being sent to you. I have always made it very clear to all my clients that if you message me and you have not received a response within a few hours to please send me another message reminder as I may have read it and was busy and forgot to reply.
Also that any lessons or check ins can be scheduled to fit your schedule so please reach out any time to schedule any upcoming sessions.
I notified you of this finding as well as reaching out to you to get you and Skii on the schedule. You let me know that Skii was having some more health issues and would need to get through those first. I let you know we are here when that time comes and that you have credits in the system to book those any time in the future. We wish Skii a quick recovery and are looking forward to seeing you guys again soon.
BEWARE! This place is a scam.
Selene, the head trainer, has 5 different phone numbers and rotates one out every month for a new one.
We paid for a 7-lesson package and only received 2 lessons where she recommends a shock collar and goes over basic sit stay commands.
The remaining 5 lessons were never provided, and communication stopped. Scheduling was very difficult, responses were slow/nonexistent, and the overall experience was terrible. We have requested a refund for the unused portion but was ghosted.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend this business and recommend that you keep your money and pets far away from this shady place.

We’re sorry to hear you were unhappy with your experience. During the time of your training package, we experienced unexpected phone service issues that required us to change providers and phone numbers. We notified clients of these changes by email and text as quickly as possible, though we understand this may have caused frustration and communication difficulties.
We completed two in-home training sessions focused on the concerns you wanted to address with your pup. We also discussed the option of introducing e-collar training for the remaining sessions if you chose to move forward with that approach.
In addition, we offered Play & Train days. You scheduled two days, but your pup attended only the first. During that visit, we completed two park walk sessions and provided supervised playtime with other dogs, which gave us a good opportunity to get to know him in our training environment. When the second day was canceled, we reached out to check in and ask how things were going. Shortly afterward, we received your refund request.
I also spoke with you directly by phone to review our refund policy. Because the request was made after training services had already begun, our policy would not normally allow a refund. However, we still wanted to address your concerns and sent an email offering a partial refund/credit of $275. Since the original payment method was unavailable, we also asked for your preferred refund method, but unfortunately did not receive a response before this review was posted.
We never want any client to feel ignored or dissatisfied. We genuinely care about the dogs and families we work with and are always striving to improve communication and the overall client experience. We remain open to discussing a resolution directly.

Please DO NOT pay Selene to train your dog. This was such an awful and expensive experience . She did not communicate almost at all . Wouldn’t respond for days to our texts . Would show up a few hours late each time she came to our home with little communication. And when our dog was returned after 3 weeks of boarded training , nothing was different and our dog would no longer eat his food . When I messaged her telling her this she replied that we should feed our dog different types of food daily because they get bored of the same food every day . One of the main things she was supposed to work On was socializing our dog . He was never socialized with anyone or any other dog in 3 weeks .

We’re sorry to hear that your experience was disappointing. Duke came to us at 4 months old with serious behavioral concerns, including food aggression and biting within the home, and we worked extensively on those behaviors throughout his stay, including structured socialization with new people, children, and other dogs. During his time with us, we did see improvements in his behavior, responsiveness, and ability to engage appropriately within the training environment.
We acknowledge communication could have been better at times, and we take that feedback seriously. At Duke’s go-home session on the evening of Christmas Eve 2024, we reviewed his progress. When concerns about his appetite were brought to my attention, I followed up to address them. Temporary changes in eating during transitions are common, and I suggested offering a few different food options while allowing him time to adjust and eat at his own pace. We also offered follow-up sessions to help transfer training into the home, and that door remained open.
We genuinely cared about Duke and wish your family the best moving forward. Anyone with questions is always welcome to reach out to us directly.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after my experience with this business, I feel it's important to share my concerns. I had high hopes when I decided to enroll my dog, Clyde, in their 2-week training and boarding program in January, paying a discounted rate of $1,700. I communicated that my primary goals were to improve his recall command, leash walking, and general manners, as he already knew basic commands but wasn’t well-behaved enough to be left outside of his kennel while I was at work.
The drop-off process on January 12th was brief, with only a 15-minute conversation. After that, communication was minimal, and I had to reach out multiple times to get updates. On January 27th, I was informed that Clyde had an “allergic reaction” to the metal on both his e-collar and prong collar, and was told he would need a few extra days in training while waiting for replacement collar covers. Though reluctant, I agreed to extend his stay.
Clyde was returned to me on February 2nd. At first, I was pleased with his behavior, but soon noticed several scabs on his neck, which he was obsessively scratching at. Upon further inspection, I found that the scabs were infected. I immediately took him to the vet, who noted puncture wounds on his neck. The vet was aware of the possibility of an allergic reaction but didn’t mention it, instead focusing on the severity of the injuries. I reached out to the trainer, but she maintained that it was likely an allergic reaction.
I followed up with the trainer and requested a $200 reimbursement to cover part of the vet bill, but my message went unanswered. It’s concerning that the issue wasn’t caught sooner, and I feel the trainer should have taken responsibility and offered compensation for the vet costs.
Additionally, Clyde returned with new fears of sliding doors and puppies, which seems odd and out of character for him.
While I’m relieved that Clyde is now okay, I’m disappointed by the lack of communication and the unaddressed issues with his health. I encourage others to carefully consider whether this training program is the right fit for their pets. It’s a shame, as I really hoped this experience would be beneficial for Clyde.

Hello Juliana/Brooke,
We here at Chasing life Dog Training loved working with Clyde while he was with us. He is such a great dog. Our facility sends owners access to their dogs google photo links where pictures/videos are uploaded regularly to keep owners updated on their pets. We also provide any updates when an owner reaches out for one. This was provided to you for Clyde during his time with us as well and we responded to your texts in a timely manner every time you sent one every few days.
We notified you on Jan 27th that unfortunately Clyde had an allergic reaction to the metal in the E Collar and prong collar being used during his training. While this sensitivity is rare, we have seen it before with some dogs but only this high of a metal reaction in a silver lab (lessons) and black lab (board and train) that trained with us previously. Once we noticed he was having a reaction we contacted you to notify you of what was happening and communicated with you that our team was keeping the area clean to prevent further irritation. Because of his reaction, we decided to order different prongs and rubber caps to go on all of the prong tips.
During drop off on Feb 2nd , I thoroughly went over with you the areas on his neck that were irritated and advised you to try and keep them as clean as possible and to continue to check regularly for any new marks as he continued to wear the E Collar until the new prongs come in, but the rubber tips on the prong collar would help. I also notified you that at his next lesson we would have the new rubber tips and new copper prongs that I ordered specifically for Clyde would be available to switch out.
On Feb 5th via phone text, you notified me that you took him to the vet because of his excess itching and he was treated to prevent further infection. I reached out to you several times and We spoke the next day about the vet visit and about making those adjustments with the new training tools in our upcoming session once he was healed and feeling better.
After that phone call, you were credited your remaining balance of $250 for the upgrade of the e collar and quick clip strap.
After that call on Feb 6th you notified us via text message that you no longer wished to continue his training and requested an additional $200 refund for the vet visit.
As per the contract you signed, you are responsible for any medical care during training that is believed to be an underlying condition.
We understand his reaction was severe, and we regret this happened but do not believe an additional refund is justified as we believe we addressed the situation to the best of our ability.
Our team at Chasing life dog training truly cares for the dogs in our care and we take their health and safety very seriously as it is our main responsibility.
We are very sorry you have chosen to not continue working with us as we think Clyde would have benefited greatly and wish you both the best moving forward.
*We would like to note that we have reached out to you by phone, text and email to discuss this review with you but each was met with no response.
This is the worst dog training company I have ever worked with. The communication was horrible, essentially non-existent. You have to schedule your own sessions as they will not reach out to you on their own. When I attempted to cancel lessons I was informed that per their contract, which I have zero copy of and no recollection of signing, I would not be getting any of my money back, but could instead put it towards boarding or other classes. After repeatedly expressing my interest in learning more about these classes I received no answer and after several months gave up. I would not recommend working with this company.
