Claire is the reason my dog changed. My dog Saffron is deeply sensitive, powerful, and previously reactive. What she needed was not just obedience training, but someone who understood her temperament and was willing to meet her where she was. Claire did exactly that. Rather than rushing into correction, Claire focused first on trust, confidence, and real-world exposure. She took Saffron out into actual life. She practiced elevators for an entire day at Legacy Village so Saffron could safely navigate the elevators in my apartment building. She took her to places like the Apple Store. She worked on calm public behavior, transitions, and overstimulation. She even incorporated small, thoughtful moments like pup cups and quiet car time to help Saffron feel secure and understood. This was not cookie-cutter training. It was intentional, observant, and humane. Claire took the time to truly know my dog before asking anything of her. The results speak for themselves. Saffron is calmer, more confident, and responsive in situations that once overwhelmed her. Walking her is no longer stressful. Being in public is no longer scary. She is happy, regulated, and safe. If you have a sensitive dog, especially one whose size or strength raises the stakes, Claire is someone you can trust. Her work is thoughtful, practical, and rooted in real life. I am deeply grateful for what she did for my dog and for me.

Claire has always been wonderful to work with - both via online sessions and in person. I live in Florida and I was more than happy to make the trip all the way to Ohio to drop off my SDiT with her for public access work along with some further scent training for blood sugar alert. My girl handled her very first flight like a total champ after a two month B&T, and I know I owe much of our success today as a team to Claire's amazing training. I will absolutely be working with her again going forward into the future.

I asked MANY questions, and all of them were answered before I received my puppy. The training that had been done by Burning River K9 was fantastic. I got a service dog prospect, and I know there is never a guarantee the dog will be able to work. But this dog…let me tell you! She had all of the basic commands and loose leash walking down pat and she had started on a few tasks before she came to live with me. She has just flourished in the 3 months I have had her. I am confident she will make it as a service dog now because of the good foundation she had. Thank you for all you did to train her as a puppy!!

Claire at Burning River K9 has helped me a lot with my service dog prospect puppy. Her puppy socialization classes and individual lessons are great! The tips and tricks I’ve learned from her have been immensely useful and I’m a much more confident dog owner now. My puppy is going to be an amazing service dog when he grows up, thanks to Burning River K9!

We just started taking our dog to Burning River. Our dog is reactive to dogs and new people, and has been since 8 weeks. We were with a previous trainer for about 6 months and felt like we were getting nowhere. Within two sessions, Claire has gotten our dog in the same room with other dogs, given him tools to make himself feel more confident, and ultimately, made us feel less anxious about every interaction Moose may have. We also have used her services while boarding Moose at the Wright Pet. It’s nice to be able to have him worked with while he’s boarded!! So far, we are extremely happy with Burning River’s services and look forward to all the progress we can make!

Fabulous trainer!! I sent my Belgian up to Ohio from North Carolina for a board and train session to brush up on her public access skills and recall. She was gone for 5 weeks and came home with a fabulous off leash recall, her PA skills were reinforced and looked lovely, and she came with the added bonus of having her jumping on people fixed unless specifically asked to do so. I wasn’t just handed a dog and left to fend for myself either which was great. There was training for me so i could help reinforce the training here at home. Photos and videos were sent of training sessions, which i completely appreciated. Overall, this program was a great experience for us as a team and i will continue to utilize them for all my training needs.

Clair has done an amazing job on both my dogs I feel so comfortable going out and exploring the world with my pups ! She has even helped me start Oder printing for my boy to do a side job !

Claire is tremendous to work with. She did a 10-day board and train with our 1.5yo Lab and has helped us greatly. Prior to Claire, walks with our dog were stressful and exhausting. He now walks on a loose leash and doesn’t lose his mind when external factors get him excited. Further, she completely erased his desire to jump on any new people he meets. After our training with Claire, we feel like we know how to both recognize the attitude of our dog and correct or reward him in the right way. This training of both us and the dog has paid dividends in our ability to continue his progress at home and is worth every penny. We now enjoy taking walks and meeting new people and, as a result, our dog is getting more attention and leading a happier life. Finally, Claire has showed how much she is dedicated to results as she’s continued to follow up and consult us on our journey even after training ended. Highly recommend!!

My German Shepherd is a reactive dog. We attended dog training classes with another trainer and it was not good. My dog would bark and be what I thought of as aggressive towards other dogs and people. I became so afraid of going to class. Then I found Claire who correctly diagnosed my dog, the reason why she was so reactive and how to treat her. Every reactive dog is different. Claire has made such a difference to my dog and my dog is now becoming the companion I need her to be. We are having good times together now and she’s starting to tolerate other dogs. It feels like a miracle. Claire is a gifted trainer. If you have a reactive dog, Claire can help! I can’t thank her enough.

Burning River K9 is an absolutely amazing Training Company. Claire is a fantastic trainer, with a truly uncanny knowledge of dogs, how they interact with disabled people, and the needs of a person with a multitude of physical, emotional and psychological challenges. I have personally observed her interaction with our service dog in training, and I am very pleased with our dog’s progress and overall behavior. Claire has shown us the utmost respect and has worked with us providing me the opportunity to visit, work with her in our training and even came to us when we were not able to go to her. I highly recommend Burning River, Claire and even the facility Wright Pet in Eastlake where Claire provides her training.

Claire is truly amazing!!! Our journey began when we adopted our 16 month old Belgian Malinois. While we were aware that this breed is extremely intelligent and highly energized, she was so laid back when we brought her home that we were unprepared for what happened next. Within a few weeks of settling in we began to realize she was "reactive". Of course, we did not know what that term meant at the time, but we quickly became educated during our search for a qualified trainer. We came to find Claire through the recommendation of another trainer we had sought an evaluation from. After spending over an hour with him, his honest evaluation was she is "reactive" and he was not the right trainer for our situation, BUT he knew who was and immediately reached out to Claire on our behalf and the rest is history!!! My first conversation with Claire took place in my car sobbing out of control because we love our girl but had absolutely no idea how to handle her. While she was great with us, we could not control her in the presence of other people or dogs. Claire's calm, gentle demeanor was obvious from the first moment we spoke and her confident reassurance that she could help put me immediately at ease. We met Claire for an in-person evaluation and training session. After our initial meeting, Claire again reassured us that she could definitely help and suggested a four-week board and train. BEST DECISION we ever made! Nothing rattles Claire. She is so patient and kind and an amazing listener. Every dog is unique and she has a keen sense of observation as well. Basically, Claire trained us in the process providing us with the necessary tools to continue the training. It has been a journey and a fun ride learning from Claire. She puts all the basic commands in place for you so when you return back to normal daily life, outside the training facility, you can continue to reinforce everything she trained your dog to do. Lastly, I want to add that Claire has continued to be available to us for any follow-up questions and/or behaviors that have popped up upon our return home. Claire is worth every penny and the best investment you will have ever made in the future of your dog's behavior!!

I recently picked up my service dog puppy prospect from Burning River K9, and it’s been a great experience! Claire is a lovely person, and was very knowledgeable, accepting, and non-judgmental when it came to finding the right prospect for my needs. She did a great job socializing and teaching basics to my pup. My puppy is happy, healthy, confident, and was clearly loved and well cared for. All in all, I would highly recommend Burning River K9!

We just passed the 4th anniversary of our sweet puppy coming home to us from Burning River K9, and we could not be more grateful to Claire for making this all possible for us. Like many people seeking specialty dog training like this, we had some very specific requests and requirements for a service dog. Having a small child in the home, we were especially concerned about safety -- I've always been a little nervous around big dogs, but -- wow -- meeting and knowing two of Claire's larger dogs (Dragon and Sammy) has really given me a very different perspective about that!!! It's true what they say: it's all about training! Big and small dogs alike, Claire definitely has that "whisperer" thing going on! Our pup has been the perfect companion to our family's needs, and our experience with Claire is what really made that possible. As professional, Claire is a no-nonsense, direct communicator with a wealth of knowledge about a huge variety of dog training strategies and critical care directives. But on a personal level, she is also a great listener -- so kind and patient with us, our kiddo, and our pup. Highly recommend service. Thank you a million times over, Burning River K9.

I was lost prior to bringing my highly reactive dog, Sadie (2 yr old German shepherd/cattle dog mix), to Claire at Burning River K9. As a new dog owner, I was in over my head and didn’t know what to do. However, in just a few months, Claire was able to teach me the tools to identify and control Sadie’s triggers. The training has transformed Sadie into a new dog and me into better dog owner. Sadie loves her time training with Claire and the special attention that she receives during our sessions. Claire has also been a great lifeline for me when we are not at our training sessions to give me guidance on Sadie’s weird little quirks and strange behavior situations. I’m so grateful to have met Claire and super excited to see Sadie’s progress as we begin scent training!

1. I wish I lived closer to Claire of Burning River K9, because if I could, I would send my puppy to work with Claire every single day. She is worth every penny. My life and my dog’s life are truly better for her work with us. If you have the opportunity, you should book time with Claire as soon as possible. 2. Claire was HIGHLY recommended to me by my puppy’s breeder, a gentleman who has spent ~40 years breeding and improving Labrador Retrievers. He literally helped to write the book on labs, and he trusts Claire completely. So that’s how I found her. 3. I am a first time dog owner. My puppy turned 6 months old today. He went from his mother to Claire at 8 weeks and I picked him up at 14 weeks. The idea was for Claire to lay a foundation of good behavior and trainability. During that 6 weeks, Claire sent me photo updates and answered all of my questions, as well as providing detailed recommendations on all things puppy related. She was ENORMOUSLY helpful. I have read a lot of books on dogs and training in an effort to prepare myself, and if I was an educated buyer, then Claire essentially has a PhD in dogs and dog training. Claire was truly better than I ever expected. She deeply knows her stuff. When I picked up my puppy, he slept perfectly in his crate in the back of the car for a 2 hour drive and a few days later behaved so well in the airport and laying under my legs on the flight home that strangers commented on his manners. This was after 6 weeks with Claire. He was not yet 4 months old. The comments on his good behavior have not stopped. He is unphased by noises, barks maybe once or twice a week, and is essentially prepared to handle any situation. He has been to bookstores, restaurants, parks, puppy class, airports, planes, and has always impressed. Now, at 6 months, I can go out for 3 or 4 hours and he’ll have the entire downstairs of my house to himself, and I’ll come home with nothing wrong. At 6 months old he is better behaved than ~90% of adult dogs I have met. I read about destructive puppies and puppies intent on killing themselves. Claire played a huge role in my puppy being abnormal in the very best way. I cannot thank her enough. Bottom Line: If you get the chance to work with Claire at Burning River K9, consider yourself lucky. Do not hesitate even one more day to get on her calendar.

Claire is a dog whisperer. She understands complex dogs and their motivations. She is able to help dogs/owners who struggle with behavior issues or reactivity. We see her specifically for scent work training for a highly intelligent, high-energy Labrador who needs a working dog outlet for her energy. Claire was recommended by our breeder. She does excellent work!

Claire is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to answer all my questions! She truly cares not only for the dogs but for the dog parents- she wants everyone involved to be successful and happy. I highly recommend Claire!
