Tending Postpartum is a two-hour virtual class exploring postpartum care as an ecosystem of herbs, nourishment, rest, relationships, community support, and clinical care. Together, we’ll look at the physical and emotional transitions of the postpartum season and explore supportive uses of teas, baths, oils, compresses, broths, and nourishing foods. We’ll also discuss herbal actions, nervous system support, recovery, consent, cultural humility, ancestral and community knowledge, lactation and medication considerations, scope of practice, and when referral may be needed. Rather than treating any one herb or practice as the answer, this class invites doulas, birth workers, and reproductive care practitioners to think about how different forms of care can work together to help postpartum people feel nourished, supported, and connected. This class is educational and does not replace medical or clinical care, diagnose or treat health conditions, or provide individualized medical advice.
Tea as Care I is a deeper exploration of tea as herbal practice, everyday care, and ritual. Together, we’ll move beyond simply asking what an herb is “good for” and begin building a more relational understanding of how plants work, how they feel in the body, and how intention, preparation, and ritual can shape our relationship with them. We’ll explore herbal actions, energetics, taste, plant affinities, infusion and decoction, and the ways a single plant may offer several kinds of support at once. We’ll also spend time tasting, reflecting, asking questions, and considering how culture, tradition, accessibility, and relationship influence the ways we prepare and share tea. Safety, contraindications, and responsible herbal practice will be woven throughout the class. This class is educational in nature and is not intended to replace medical or clinical care, diagnose or treat health conditions, or provide individualized medical advice. Herbal education can support informed care while existing alongside appropriate medical care and referral when needed. Tea as Care I creates the foundation for Tea as Care II: Formulation, Flavor & Building a Blend, where we’ll begin putting these pieces together through intentional formulation.
Rest, Remember + Restore is a virtual community care circle created as a space to slow down, reconnect, and receive. Each gathering offers a different invitation into rest and restoration and may include practices such as Reiki, restorative movement, meditation, guided reflection, grounding, breathwork, or intentional rest. The focus and practice for each gathering will be shared with the event date on the Ancestral Hands website. No prior experience is needed, and you are welcome to participate in the ways that feel supportive to you. To honor the intimacy of the space, each circle is limited to 10 participants. If you register and are no longer able to attend, please notify me as soon as possible so your space can be offered to someone else.
