If you would like to work with us through Private Lessons we always begin with an initial consultation. This consultation is where we discuss what you are wanting to work on with your dog, outline a training plan, and decide which lesson package will be the best fit for you and your dog. The initial consultation typically lasts 60 - 90 minutes.

This program will also focus on creating good household manners, and creating really strong basic obedience skills to make living with your pup as easy as possible. It will have more focus on strong obedience skills and be focused on impulse control, which our teenagers really struggle with!

Hiking is a great outlet for our dogs, and wonderful enrichment. Our hiking appointments last for 2 hours, allowing for up to 30 minutes of driving each way and guaranteeing at least an hour of hiking time. Hikes are always done on a long line to allow your pup to explore and enjoy some freedom while staying safe.

On hikes we spend time reinforcing check ins, practicing our recalls, and building foundations for reliable off leash skills. 

If you would like to extend your dogs hike we can add an hour for an additional fee. If you'd like your dog to get some social time on their hike, we can also bring along one of the trainers socially savvy dogs.

Going to a nearby park is another great opportunity for sniff time, as well as a great chance to practice skills around a lot of distractions. Park walks last for 90 minutes, allowing for up to 15 minutes of driving time each way and guaranteeing an hour in the park. Park walks may be done on a long line to allow your pup to sniff, or on a six foot leash. This will vary depending on the park and your dog. 

On park walks we spend time reinforcing check ins, practicing recalls, and practicing our loose leash walking skills.

Walks around the neighborhood can also be highly enriching for our dogs, and it's a great place to get a lot of practice. Neighborhood walks can also be highly frustrating, so it can be helpful to have someone step in and help take some of the frustration off your plate! Neighborhood walks last for one hour of walking time and are always done on a six foot leash. 

On neighborhood walks we spend time reinforcing check ins, practicing our loose leash walking skills, and practicing sidewalk manners.

​In the Neighborhood tutoring sessions are great for everyone. These sessions may be inside your home (as long as you are comfortable), your yard, or wandering around your neighborhood. This is a great starting point for all dogs include our baby puppies and reactive dogs. These sessions also naturally build towards Out & About sessions, especially if that's your goal. 

These sessions are scheduled for an hour of training time.

Out & About tutoring sessions are great for those who are looking to generalize their dogs skills and be able to take them to local parks, stores, or restaurant patios. These tutoring sessions are scheduled for 2 hours, allowing up to 30 minutes of driving time each way and guaranteeing a full hour of training time. Your trainer will select the exact location of each session based on your goals, the weather, and your dogs abilities. 

These sessions are also great for our reactive dogs who are working towards getting their skills into more public places. We do recommend that reactive dogs start with In the Neighborhood sessions to set a foundation of skills before moving Out & About.
