This puppy program is designed to help owners and puppies get started on the right foot! The goals of the program are to provide guidance on socialization, basic obedience training, learn about the appropriate amount of exercise, and learn how to be a responsible dog owner. Puppies who pass the class receive a certificate, a listing on the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy database, and an AKC Puppy Handbook. Classes are 6 weeks, 45 minutes each week, with one make up class added the week after the final class if needed. Class total cost $150. A deposit of $50 (+surcharge) is required to reserve a spot. Deposit is refundable up until 1 week prior to the start of the first class. Remaining charge of $100 is due at the first class via cash or check. Puppies must be under 6 months by the start of the first class and up to date on DHPP vaccines, bordetella and rabies if old enough. A clear fecal from a veterinarian must be provided as well. This class is not recommended for puppies that consistently bark at new dogs. Instead, private training would be a better option. If signing up more that one dog, please go through the sign up process again for each additional dog. For safety purposes, handlers in group class must be 16 years or older.
